The foundation gives encouragement and grants to individual feminists in the arts (writers and visual artists).

This scholarship is offered to a young (18-30) woman writer of color who shows talent and drive in creating lesbian literature. The writer should be interested in working on a full-length novel or a collection of short stories.

The $500 Diverse Writers grant is intended to support new and emerging writers from underrepresented and underprivileged groups, such as writers of color, women, queer writers, disabled writers, working-class writers, etc. — those whose marginalized identities may present additional obstacles in the writing / publishing process.

The Gift of Freedom Award is a fellowship of $50,000 designed to bridge the gap between a woman’s financial reality and her artistic creation. One fellowship awarded biennially, along with up to three genre awards of $5,000 each.

Leeway Foundation's grantmaking programs honor women and trans* artists and cultural producers for their ability to create social change through their artistic and cultural work.

The Sandra Moran Scholarship is awarded each year to one student of the GCLS Writing Academy. The scholarship will cover tuition for the one year program.

Each applicant in Art, Letters or Music must send a letter stating that she will be age 35 or older during the application calendar year, is not a member of NLAPW or a member of the immediate family of an NLAPW member. She must state her background and purpose for the grant. Money from this grant must be used for the purpose stated in the letter of application.
