The Women & Books Retrospective Award is a one time chance to honor great books by women authors published in the last fifty years.
We want to give books published over the last fifty years a chance to be celebrated and brought into the limelight, maybe for the first time. The very core of Women and Books is both the discovery and rediscovery of books by women to keep them alive so they have a chance of becoming an equal part of the literary canon. A retrospective award is the perfect vehicle for reviving, reminding, and revitalizing women's literature.
We decided to limited the scope to books with female-identified protagonists because, according to various literary award studies, these books have had the least success in winning an award.
We will post the nominations are they come in to reduce the chance of duplicate entries. So please check the list before making a nomination.
Criteria:
1. Must be by a female-identified author.
2. Must have a female-identified protagonist.
3. Can be originally published in any language, but must also have an English language edition. We can accept only the English edition.
4. Must have been published between January 1, 1968 and December 31, 2018.
5. Traditionally published and self-published books are eligible.
8. We'll accept reprint editions as long as the original date of publication falls between January 1, 1968 and December 31, 2018.
9. Books can be Out of Print.

Deadline: November 1, 2019 (postmarked)
Awards announced: February 15, 2020.
The judges are women librarians, educators, and enthusiastic readers. Each nomination will be read by three judges.
How to enter:
1. Ebooks (mobi, epub, and/or pdf--all three would be appreciated, but any formats you have is fine) are preferred. If there is no ebook edition, then ONE print copy.
2. $25 submission fee.
3. Filled out nomination form, online or printed.
If you are submitting a print copy, you can fill out the online form and pay online, then ship the book. Or you can print the nomination and send it in the book (plus payment, if you don't pay online) to the address in your confirmation email.
